Friends, Snuffy Arroders and Incomers. This is your friendly Herald delivery man writing to you. Two years ago, you good people of Hyndburn helped to raise the magnificent sum of over £5,000 for the charity SCOPE ( Cerebral Palsy ) when I trekked to the Everest Base Camp and the to the top of Kala Pattar. In November this year I am running in the New York Marathon, again for SCOPE, and I was hoping you might be able to help this worthy cause once more. I know that we are in a credit crunch and that you all have your favourite charities you donate to, but if you have ANY spare change it would be appreciated. You can contact me on : 01254 888224 or Mob: 07868 990192 Thank you for taking the time to read this. James ( Eddie ) Adams
The Great Harwood Civic Society’s new Town Crier, Rawden Kerr, has had a hectic start to his official duties. Rawden welcomed the early visitors to the town’s Agricultural Show in the pouring rain on Spring Bank Holiday Monday (picture) and on the following Satur- day morning, in bright sunshine, set off some 40 walkers who were taking part in the town’s annual Boundary Walk (picture). The Town Crier’s next official duties will be to welcome visitors to the Society’s Charity Market on Saturday morning, August 20th, and to the Crying of the Fair at 9.00am on Sunday, August 21st, on Towngate – a tradition that ensures the town maintains its Market Charter. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come along and enjoy these annual events.
