Town Talk
TWO speed indicator devices have been recommended on a busy road that is the route to a primary school. We reported in the February edition
of Town Talk that parents taking their children to Snodland Church of Eng- land Primary School in Roberts Road from the Constitution Hill end of Bir- ling Road wanted the crossing in Bir- ling Road at a point where there were dropped kerbs. A petition with more than 300 signa- tures was handed to the town council
which gave its support along with Tracey Crouch MP, and KCC Cllr Sarah Hohler. Mrs Hohler, who is the cabinet member for Education, Learning and Skills, told Town Talk: “Pavinder Jutte, the community liaison officer, met with Anne Moloney, of Snodland Town Council, on May 26. “Crossings must be visible to
traffic from a set minimum distance. On inspection of the site it transpired that there is insufficient distance on

lation of two speed indicator devices, which will flash a school warning tri- angle to cars travelling over a set speed. At the request of Mrs Moloney, I have also asked Ms Jute to investigate whether moving the dropped kerbs to another position along the road would help. “I have submitted the authorisation
form so that these may be paid out of my member’s highways grant.”
