Sue makes a marathon effort for her dad

Local news for Snodland and Halling

A SNODLAND woman ran the London Marathon and raised £4,200 for a little known charity in memory of her father. Sue Pritchard, who has lived in

Willowside for 13 years, com- pleted the course in four hours 44 minutes. She ran in aid of Ataxia UK charity and said only seven per cent of the population had heard of cerebellar ataxia. Her father Roy Moxon, from

Tonbridge, was diagnosed with the rare illness in 2008 and died last year. Sue (pictured) said: “I prom-

ised my dad I would run the marathon when he was diag- nosed to raise awareness of the disease.” Her daughters Emma (8) and

Chloe (6) were very proud of mum and want to run marathons themselves when they are older. Sue, a freelance trade journalist, commented: “I did so much training, as recommended by the London Marathon people, but the last few miles were painful. I kept thinking ‘am I actually doing this?’ “It was an uncomfortably hot day and it was scary at points with people collapsing in the heat, but I wanted to enjoy it. I was doing it in dad’s memory.” She is taking part in the Tonbridge half-marathon in September

and although she said she would only do one full marathon “might give it a couple of years” and perhaps try the Brighton marathon!
