Annapolis Kids Shine
Annapolis Pony Club (APC) celebrated many accomplishments for the year 2010. T e kids all worked very hard throughout the year and it really showed. T e club is proud of its riders as they took fi rst place in the Maryland Region Qualifying Eventing Rally, swept all the divisions at the Maryland Region Games Rally and took fi rst again in many divisions in the Maryland Region Tetrathlon Rally. Aidan Doud, one of APC’s youngest mem-
bers, also brought home the prestigious George Helwig Perpetual Award for the Tetrathlon’s highest combined score in riding, swimming and target shooting at that rally.

Riddle and her horse Skip for the Faircloth Perpetual Award, which recognizes the pair that demonstrates improvement and promise throughout the year. Club high-point awards in dressage were given to Marissa Meltzer and Eric Caverly and in eventing to Hillary Mar- nane. T e Sportsmanship Award was voted on by the kids and went to Jada Ito. APC also honored the riders that represented
the club at the USPC National Champion- ships: Sarah Stokes, Alex Peterson, Lucie Kir- by, Abby Doud and Stephanie Oliff . A special recognition from the Maryland Region was awarded to Sarah Stokes, a member of the win- ning team at the President’s Cup at Fair Hill International (2010) and for being selected as a
member of the International Games Team. In 2010, the following 14 riders achieved
perfect turnout scores at one or more rallies: Yeardley Pendleton, Virginia Strench, Mikayla Lipsetts, Abby Rutledge, Georgia Rutledge, Lydia Rutledge, Katie Stokes, Sarah Stokes, Lucie Kirby, Abby Doud, Aidan Doud, Jada Ito, Alex Peterson and Quinn Riddle.
Horse Bowl Winners
On March 19, the University of Maryland hosted the State 4-H Horse Bowl Competi- tion. First place Junior Team went to Queen Anne’s County with Hannah Irons earning the top spot in the Junior Individual rankings. Carroll County won the Intermediate Team but
Olivia Richart from Cecil County earned fi rst as an individual. Carroll County also won fi rst place for the Senior Team divisions. Stacey Heaver from that team won fi rst as an individual.
Horse Trials Benefi ts Pony Club Grad Members of the Annapolis Pony Club
Lillian Heard, a Seneca Valley Pony Club “B” graduate, lost her event horse Ariel in a fi re at Boyd Martin’s barn at True Prospect Farm in Pennsylvania on May 31.
