Roundup grows its market share
The latest GfK stats indicate that it is going to be a record year for weedkiller sales, with Roundup taking five of the top 10 places. Results show that the total market value for weedkiller is up an impressive 58 per cent on the same period last year and within garden centres the value has increased by an equally impressive 62 per cent. Looking specifically at Roundup, the results show that the brand has increased its overall value by 90 per cent and its value share is up 5.2 points, taking it from 25.1 per cent to 30.3 per cent. Garden centres have matched this growth rate, also increasing by 90 per cent and the value share is up 4.9 points, taking it from 27.7 per cent to 32.6 per cent. “This means that in garden centres almost £1 out of every £3 spent on weedkillers is spent on Roundup!” says a spokesperson for the brand. Cuprinol is a hit
with consumers The Cuprinol PowerPad achieved great results in the recent independent testing conducted by market research specialist Future Thinking. 204 consumers took part in the blind test and of those, 75 per cent preferred the Cuprinol system to the leading branded competitor’s product, 73 per cent said they were more likely to buy it and 77 per cent said it gave a better appearance and finish. Specifically designed as a solution to colouring and protecting decking, the Cuprinol Power Pad gives complete control and requires less effort than using a brush and no awkward bending. The applicator combines the benefits of both a brush and a pad; the bristles get right into the grooves whilst the pad glides over the surface to achieve a smooth and even finish.
