Driving out of Torpoint you will rapidly come across the entrance to Antony House, a beautiful stately home with lovely gardens and well worth a visit, little further at Antony is the Ring of Bells pub where the Duke of Edinburgh played skittles.
Through Antony village to Tregantle Fort, used as an Army training facility in the Second World War, is Whitsand Bay with its plethora of golden non commercialised beaches. There are steep cliff paths to the beaches and a few cafes, but no vehicle access. Staying on the main road at Antony will take you to Polbathic, and then a right hand turn to the old and fascinating village of St Germans with another great house once home for an annual Music and Arts Festival, similar to Glastonbury. Further along the coast road to Looe are the seaside villages of Polperro, Seaton and Downderry. The scenery is stunning and both Seaton and Downderry have splendid beaches for families with very young children, senior citizens and the disabled.
Looe is extremely popular with holiday makers, especially families on a budget. It’s all here, a holiday seaside feel, a stunning fishing harbour, numerous arts and crafts shops, tea rooms, restaurants & pubs. Opportunities for scuba diving and fishing or pleasure boat trips (particularly out to off shore Looe Island), sailing on Looe River and glorious coastal walking and beaches not just around Looe but in surrounding nearby picture postcard seaside villages. Looe caters for families well, with a choice of hotels, bed & breakfast, caravan parks, great beaches a choice of local museums, a zoo and many other attractions. At New Year this small Cornish town has celebrations equal to any you will see in London or Edinburgh. Information on all
