The Kings Arms is Back
A year ago, a Boxley resident and his family took on The Kings Arms, a traditional local pub, because it was in danger of closing and being lost for good. Now, after a major overhaul of the premises, the personnel and the menus - they just want people to enjoy it.
Head chef Sean Bissett and his right-hand man, Jamie Taylor- Gard, have dedicated themselves to re-establishing The Kings Arms as a destination for food . Sean's background speaks for
itself. He came via the Bell Inn at Horndon-On-The-Hill, Essex, and the Cley Hall Hotel, Spalding, where he worked under top chef Lee Clarke. He also achieved two AA Rosettes in his own right and he is seeking to repeat this achievement at The Kings Arms. As well as a daily bar and grill menu, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, there is also an a la carte menu featuring the
freshest of fish and tasting platters to share including vegetarian options. ‘Guest Steaks’ change on a weekly basis. All ingredients are fresh and sourced locally wherever possible. Meats and fish are of the highest quality and all the sauces and even the ice creams are made on the premises. Sean’s aim is to deliver ‘London quality but at local prices’ and to retain that special character of a historic pub that was nearly lost forever. The extensive enclosed garden also offers a wonderful al fresco drinking and dining opportunity.
