Hi and welcome to our June issue of Playmusic Magazine. It already seems funny to think that we are almost half way through the year what’s even more mind- blowing is that in July Playmusic Magazine will celebrate its 100th issue! Can you believe that? Next month we also unveil the winners of the 2011 Playmusic Unsigned Awards. Your entries have been flooding in and soon we'll be unveiling the winners… In the meantime take some time out to enjoy this month’s magazine, which is brimming
with gear reviews from just about every angle: Guitar-wise you’ve got to check out amazing new Manson MA-1 guitar, the scorching Fender Blacktop Jazzmaster HS and the cheeky Vintage Paradise. We’ve also got a great value packaged PA system from Wharfedale Pro, a custom made pedal board from a new UK-based manufacturer Unique Pedal Boards…we’ve even got the new TD-9 KX2 electric drum kit from Roland, plus lots more. We also welcome rock legend Glenn Hughes back to the pages of Playmusic. This summer Glenn is returning to the UK with Black Country Communion and BCC’s new album 2 is an absolute belter, rockier than a mountain of granite and with Glenn’s unmistakable vocals soaring majestically across the top. Meanwhile our June cover stars My Morning Jacket remain a criminally underrated band, in our opinion. We also meet something of an indie super group – although they would probably hate being described thus. Young Legionnaire comprises members of Bloc Party and yourcodenameis: Milo and their joyful post-hardcore wall-of-sound takes things in a completely different direction from their previous bands work. We’ve also got out usual round up of great competitions and regular features, so dip in and enjoy.
