The Son-Rise Cup for Autism Football Festival
THE 6th. Son-Rise Cup has moved on to another gear! Not only are there tournaments for all ages from 8-16yrs and Ladies, girls and of course the Men’s quality matches but now there is a Disability Tournament for Adults which takes this event to higher ground!
Organiser Allen Lewis says, “We are also extremely lucky to have the use of Tavistock Community Football Club’s wonderful facilities and the College All Weather Pitches, to make the event more special. With the backing of the Devon FA and the promotion of the new Respect drive, Respect Football FC, we will move this event forward to being one of the highlights on the Tournament
Calendar in the West Country.
From helping one little Tavistock autistic boy improve his communication skills in 2006, this event has grown rapidly to help so many people with special needs and their families to improve lives and give them a real purpose. The event also promotes the Son-Rise Programme of America Therapy in the hope that other families can adopt some of the ideas of this very natural treatment and improve their child’s communication skills.
The Businesses of Tavistock stand firm in supporting Allen in his drive to put disability football in this area on the map. He says, “It is such a wonderful privilege to gain the trust of very busy people , uniting rival businesses with one goal, to make people less fortunate than ourselves have something special to look forward to and help improve the quality of their lives. It is an honour to help the families have some fun by being part of a football team and I am so proud of our wonderful Coaches who give up their spare time to help at training. We see these special people gain so much from this group, it can only get better! I also must say a big thank you to the Son-Rise Cup Committee who have been so positive and supportive towards the building and running of this event , without their input it could not have reached this level.’’
