The newViera facility will offer patients exact treatment using theVarian TrueBeam with RapidArc technology, the most advanced radiation technology offered to
date.SCCC is one of the first cancer care organizations in the entire U.S. to offer this therapy.
PRECISE TREATMENT The Varian Linear Accelerator (Linac) Trilogy machine is the most
advanced radiation therapy machine in the country and is currently in use at SCCC’s Titusville location. SCCC purchased the newest Varian model, the TrueBeam for its Viera location. What makes the Trilogy and TrueBeam so effective is that they have
the ability to deliver precise radiation using RapidArc technology. This allows a 10-minute treatment to be delivered in two minutes, and a 40-minute treatment to be completed in 10 minutes. Additional features include: IMRT, IGRT, respiratory gating and stereotactic radiosurgery. “We literally have a CAT-scan machine inside the Linac, which identifies the tumor and ensures the treatment beam has targeted it precisely,” says Dr. Levine. “This is why they’re in such great demand. The goal is to improve the patient’s cure rate and survival with fewer complications.”

“The Trilogy and TrueBeam allows us to continue our mission of delivering higher and higher doses to the tumor while being able to spare more healthy tissue. It’s so valuable to have this caliber of equipment. Usually, you would only find this kind of cutting-edge technology at an academic center, or maybe a hospital in a major
city.SCCC is fortunate to be one of the first facilities in the U.S. to offer TrueBeam Therapy.”
– Dr. Cynthia Bryant, radiation oncologist at SCCC
