Polarcirkel all plastic cages Today’s cages bear little resemblance to the first plastic pens invented by Polarcirkel in 1974, where the pipe diam- eters were only 200mm, as they are now up to 500mm. Fish security is paramount, and the latest pens have been designed not only to han- dle the sea conditions in the more high energy sites but also provide a safe platform for operators and additional

equipment. These rugged, low maintenance and seaworthy cages have many features including:
• All plastic ‘net friendly’ cages mean less mainte- nance, corrosion and risk of net abrasion.
• Pipe diameters ranging from 200-500mm suit dif-
ferent environments – from freshwater lochs to the most exposed sea sites.
• Strong and lightweight
Pressure Injection Moulded (PIM) brackets mean high strength, low maintenance, long life and a very high re- serve buoyancy.
• Anchoring connector systems ensure even mooring tensions and less risk of dam- age from work boats. • Extra wide catamaran decked walkways combined with strong stanchions and interlocking rail design make Polarcirkel cages safe to work on without sacrificing seawor- thiness and strength. • Twin pipes give a more forgiving movement in the waves.
• Additional security features include the optional second- ary continuous safety chain in the outer ring.

Our local team, based in Inverness and Kishorn, have nearly 40 years experience of manufacturing and operating Polarcirkel cages world-wide and can provide customised options and support. The latest cages being built in Scotland are 100m and 120m circumference and these can be viewed at our dedicated build site in Kishorn. AKVA group Wavemaster also provide a range of steel pens, which provide an excel- lent working platform and are suitable for less exposed sites. Our net friendly cages reduce the risk of escapes, particularly if used with the latest Polarcirkel EcoNets.
