The fishing industry is very well aware of the responsibility this brings on top of the global drive to improve sustainability in general and in the fishing sec- tor in particular.

ing history in applications for the commercial fishing industry, with a proven return on invest- ment where they enable fishermen to reduce fuel consumption as well as maintenance costs. Last year DSM Dyneema conducted the first value chain eco-footprint analysis on trawling gear made with Dyneema®
fibre to validate the
reduced footprint achieved when switching from gear made with traditional materials. The results showed that one fishing boat can already reduce its carbon dioxide emission by the equivalent of around 100 cars on an annual basis. ‘Promoting and driving product steward- ship throughout the value chain is something we regard as highly important,’ says André
