Department of Systems and Computer Science is available in three forms:
1. University graduate as- sistantships. 2. Research assistantships. 3. Graduate school-funded support.
Jackson State University
Jackson State University has established a reputation for producing an ever-increas- ing quantity and quality of graduates in computer science. JSU graduates are of- fered employment by major companies and government agencies, as well as opportu- nities to continue their stud- ies in graduate programs. The department’s programs provide learning experiences and activities designed to help students choose and initiate careers that contrib- ute to the social, cultural and economical development of the state and the nation.
Mississippi State University
received stipends totaling $8,000, and $12,000 for graduate students. Students that are awarded a scholar- ship under the SFS program have the same general requirements and benefits as offered by the Department of Defense Information Assur- ance Scholarship Program award. The IASP program is similar to the SFS program but funded by the Depart- ment of Defense. The ben- efits and requirements are primarily the same, except the student is automatically placed with a federal agency upon being awarded the scholarship.
Norfolk State University
Mississippi State Univer- sity received more than $1 million for scholarships and other support for students training to meet the nation’s critical need for informa- tion assurance professionals. The first participants in the National Science Foundation Scholarship for Service (SFS) program, in 2002, received awards fully covering tuition and fees while providing allowances for books and housing.

Under a new program called INSPIRE (Informa- tion Security and Privacy): Interdisciplinary Research and Education launched July 2010, NYU-Poly will educate engineers to think like policy makers and psychologists to protect cyberspace. The Polytechnic Institute of New York University launched the graduate program to address the shortage of scientists and engineers versed in the interplay between informa- tion security and economics, psychology, public policy and law. INSPIRE gradu- ates will be able to apply their understanding of these fields to develop technology solutions that are attuned to an increasing dependence on trustworthy information systems.
Science and Technology Center of Academic Excel- lence (CAE) in Advanced Biometrics is the only science and technology CAE in the United States. The mission of the Center for Academic Studies in Identity Sciences is to perform research to provide a variety of innova- tive solutions to critical identity security issues, while increasing the pool of talented researchers and professionals in the biometric workforce.

Rochester Institute of Technology
RIT has been designated an Academic Center of Excel- lence by the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, and the National Security Agency. The B.S. in Applied Network- ing and System Administra- tion program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, and the Center for Advanced Defense Studies has teamed with the Rochester Institute of Technology to offer cross disciplinary degrees featur- ing cyber security, CBRNE (chemical, biological, radio- logical, nuclear and high- yield explosives) defense and counterterrorism.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Rensselaer is America’s old- est technological research university. The Computer Science Department at RPI confers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. Currently there are about 450 undergradu- ates and about 85 graduate students.
Major research areas include bio-informatics, computa- tional science and engineer- ing, computer vision, data- base systems, networking, parallel computing, pervasive computing, robotics, seman- tic web, software design, and theoretical computer science.
