DIVERSITY

MOVES FORWARD AT NORTHROP GRUMMAN

Employee Resource Groups Create Communities, Forge New Bonds

People are an employer’s most important asset, and Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) “gets it” when it comes to diversity and inclusion. Since 2004, diverse professionals at the 120,000-strong aerospace and defense technology company have voted the Los Angeles, CA-based firm as one of the best workplaces in Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine’s Most Admired Employers

survey. Year after year, they rank among the top for effective initiatives such as diversity presentations, heritage events, women’s con- ferences, and employee resource groups These programs have not only helped further Northrop Grumman’s diversity efforts in the workplace, they have leveraged their partnerships in the community.

Employee networks and employee resource groups (ERGs) make up a key part of Northrop Grumman’s diversity and in- clusion strategy and framework. ERGs are open to all Northrop Grumman employees. Typical groups that have formed over the last decade include women, African Americans, Asian- Pacific individuals, people with disabilities, veterans, lesbian,

gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees, and new hires. There are even ERGs for employees who identify as part of “Generation X” or “Generation Y.” All ERGs align with the Northrop Grumman diversity strategy.

Adelante, one of NGC’s 32 voluntary, employee-driven as- sociations, is focused on the development of Hispanic talent— within an all-inclusive community of employees who propel Northrop Grumman to leadership in global security. Adelante, Spanish for “moving forward” or “getting ahead,” is open to all NGC employees and committed to fostering business impact, career development and mentoring programs to en- hance leadership skills, networking and organizational expo- sure, recruiting and retention, community outreach/education and member involvement.
