Fifteen minutes south of downtown Kelowna is CedarCreek Winery. They live by the philosophy to “Respect the land, honour tradition, pursue perfection.” They have been named Canada’s Winery of the Year, not once, but twice. Like Gray Monk, CedarCreek’s wine shop and tasting room is open 363 days a year. Their fall hours are 11 am to 5 pm and they will do winery tours by request for groups of four or more. A word of warning from the winery, the Malbec may be out of the 2007 vintage shortly, but the 2008 will be released in November, and only for sale in the CedarCreek wine shop.

The Starling Lane Winery (open Saturday and Sunday only) is a true Vancouver Island Estate Winery. They make their wines with grapes only grown on their property. As a small family winery on the Saanich Peninsula near Victoria, they make
