There is little evidence that “pre-tanning” in sun beds is going to protect your skin from sunburn in a sunny climate. A full tan gives an SPF of 4 or less, which means that you will have a little longer time in the sun before you start to burn. Most importantly to understand, any change in skin color is a sign of damage from UV radiation, which leads to premature skin aging and skin cancer.
