The New Exhibits Chiddingstone Castle from March


New for 2011 will be a display of 15-20 exquisite snuff boxes from the Stuart era. The snuff boxes, of varying shapes and sizes, date back to the early 17th century. They include beautiful and very intricate relief portraits of Stuart and Jacobite kings and queens. Several are marked with the signature of John Obrisset, a highly-skilled horn and tortoiseshell worker and snuff box maker.


Art Exhibition - John Piper in Kent & Sussex Tunbridge Wells Museum and Art Gallery Mar 9 - May 21


The exhibition includes his early work when, in his teenage years he cycled the lanes of Kent and Sussex with his sketchbook, alongside the artist's later collaboration with the poet Sir John Betjeman on the Shell tourist guides. Stage sets and costume designs for Benjamin Britten's operas at Glyndebourne are brought together with designs for stained glass and tapestry, illustrating the versatlility of Piper's art from the 1920s to the 1960s.

Free Guided Tours - Sap rising Biddenden Vineyards April 2


Free guided tours of Biddenden Vineyards run on selected Saturdays throughout the year give visitors the chance to learn more about the history of the vineyards and see how and where the award-winning wines, ciders and juices are made. Tours start at 10am, with a free cup of coffee before 9.45am, and include a walk through the vines, a look in the winery, followed by tastings in the vineyard shops. These tours are intended for individuals and small groups, and pre- booking is essential.

Hole Park celebrates its unrivalled spring displays, including the incredible bluebell wood, which attracts thousands of visitors every year. The gardens are open seven days a week, 11am to 6pm.


Robots Galore The Historic Dockyard, Chatham 4 April - 17 June


Visitors will get the opportunity to come face to face with some of the metal stars of the big screen. Film fans will recognise a vintage Robocop and a B9 robot torso made by the legendary Andy Shaw, the original Dalek builder. With so much on show, visitors will be spoilt for choice and around every corner lurks another metallic star, from The Terminator to Judge Dred.
