The BlackHawks wrapped up a successful season Saturday. Several members of the North


Buncombe High School swim team set best times in the Class 3-A West Regional swim meet Saturday (Feb. 5) in Huntersville. Bill Barrett set an individual best


time in the 50-yard freestyle, and Keith Swigart did the same in the 50-yard backstroke. Barrett and Swigart were also part


of the team, along with Justin Lance and Mitch Finney, who achieved a

relay-best time of 2:09.48, good for 26th place, in the 200-yard medley race. Finney, a junior, placed 19th in


the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.73 seconds and 28th in the 100- yard freestyle with a time of 56.22 seconds. Te girls’ team of seniors Laurel


Manion, Brittany Williams, Savan- nah Ramsey and Amber Williams placed 22nd in the 200-yard free-


style relay with a time of 2:01.32. A boys’ team of Barrett, Lance,


Finney and sophomore Andrew Murray also finished 22nd in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:50.03. None of the swimmers qualified


for the state championships. Te BlackHawks competed against 41 teams.
