Let BABs provide you with the opportunity to diversify your taxable income.

Yield effective 02/07/2011, subject to availability and price change. Yield and market value may fluctuate if sold prior to maturity, and the amount received from the sale of these securities may be less than the amount originally invested. Before investing in Build America Bonds, you should understand the risks involved, including interest rate risk, credit risk and market risk. Bond investments are subject to interest rate risk such that when interest rates rise, the prices of bonds can decrease and the investor can lose principal value. Lower-rated bonds are subject to greater fluctuations in value and risk of loss of income and principal. The value of bonds fluctuates, and you may lose some or all of your principal. Any bonds called prior to maturity result in reinvestment risk for the bond owner.

BlackHawks earn sweep on Senior Night

By Matt Tate North Buncombe swept Asheville

on Tuesday night (Feb. 8), capping off a fitting end for 10 seniors. In both games, the BlackHawks

built up large leads, only to see them dwindle down the stretch before pull- ing away late in the fourth quarter. On the girls’ side, North Buncombe

started hot, hitting five of its first seven shots. Freshman Heather Burton had four straight points in the paint and then found fellow freshman Haley Higgins for a layup that stretched the lead to 27-13 shortly before half. Tat lead ballooned to 18 points

early in the third before Asheville’s De- siree Roberts led a charge to whittle the BlackHawks’ lead to 43-38. Jayde Ledbetter, who led all scorers

with 21 points, nailed a 3-pointer as the third quarter ended, and the Black- Hawks kept the Cougars at bay in the fourth for a 61-50 victory. Senior Kelsey Moore, who scored 10

points in her final regular-season home game, said the youthful BlackHawks are starting to pull together. “I feel like we stepped up as a team

together and stopped playing selfishly,” she said. Fellow senior Kelli Cutshall, who

chipped in five points, added, “All of our pieces are falling into place.” Te BlackHawks have qualified for

the state playoffs for all of Moore’s four seasons on varsity. “You always want to make it further

than the year before,” she said. Roberts paced the Cougars with 18

points. On the boys’ side, seniors led the way

for North Buncombe as Kevin Bailey scored 23 points, Sam Rector poured in 16 and Christian Bridges added 15 in the BlackHawks’ 75-70 victory. The BlackHawks led 67-50 in the

fourth quarter before Asheville raced back with a 13-0 run. Asheville had two chances to tie it late with 3-point- ers but a key block from Kyle Ward and a 23-foot heave with seconds remain- ing fell short, thwarting the Cougars’ chances. North Buncombe built a small lead

in the first half after senior Nathan Horn made a nifty out-of-bounds save to Bailey who completed a three-point play. Tat was followed by Horn’s three- point play that stretched the lead to 30- 23 as the first half neared its end. Austin McGrayne and Deveron

Roberts led the Cougars with 19 points apiece. Te win was North Buncombe’s

third in a row. In addition to Bailey, Rector, Bridges, Ward and Horn, it
