Proclaiming the Power of Pentecost
The paintings in the exhibit represent impressions of distant places. Te Madison County Arts
Council presents an exhibit of paintings by Madison County na- tive Charles “Chuck” Rice in Feb- ruary. In June 2003, Rice began a
great adventure of living in Mon- golia for nearly two years. During his time in Mongolia, he traveled in virtually every province. Since Mongolia, his path led
to Dushanbe, Tajikistan; Tbilisi, Georgia; Moscow, Russia; Bishkek,
Kyrgyzstan; Bukhara, Uzbekistan; Baku, Azerbaijan; Reykjavik, Ice- land and Dili, Timor-Leste. Te paintings in this exhibit rep-
resent Rice’s impressions of each of these places. Rice said of his work, “Some people have asked if I paint what I see. My response is always the same: I paint what I feel. It is the way I have always approached art. Painting has been one of the most enlightening experiences in my life.”

An opening reception and art-
ist’s presentation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday (Feb. 4) at the Arts Center. Te reception is free and open to the public, and the work will be on display through the month of February. Te Arts Center is located at 90 South Main Street in Marshall,. Call 828-649-1301 for more in- formation.
