Kathy Wilson Young Leicester - Kathy Wilson Young,
age 56, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Guilford County, she
was a daughter of Maxine Lemons Spivey of Stokesdale and the late Clay Wilson, Jr. She retired, with 30 years of service, from the Bun- combe County School System, where she taught as an elementa- ry school teacher. Kathy was a lov- ing wife, mother and grandmother. She was active in the AWANA Pro- gram and choir at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Kathy also enjoyed spend- ing time at Lake Hiawassee. She is survived by her husband,
of 21 years, James ‘Jim’ Young; one son, James Clay Young; one daughter, Amanda Marlowe and her husband, Steven; one sister, Ann Brown and her husband, Wal-
ly; three granddaughters, Chelsey, Haley and Malea Marlowe; and one grandson, Peyton Brett Mar- lowe, all of Leicester. A memorial service will be held
at 5 pm on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 pm until 5 pm prior to the service at the church. A son of the late Ed and Ethel Carson, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Callo- way Carson who died in 2008; his son, Gary Edward Carson; brother, Frank Carson; and sister, Shirley Tate. Stewart, age 94, of Woodfin, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011. Mrs. Stewart was born May 29,
1916, in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She was a daughter of the late Charles Na- thaniel and Eliza Obera Rutledge Jarvis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Winfred E. Stewart, who died in 2003; brothers, Paul, Rob, and Mug; and sisters, Sara and Cornelia. Thelma B. Freeman Weaverville - Thelma B. Free-
man, 96, of Hendersonville, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011. Mrs. Freeman was born June 5,
1914, in Macon County and was a resident of Weaverville most of her life. She attended schools in Macon County, graduating from Franklin High School. Mrs. Free- man graduated from Blanton Busi- ness College after she and her late husband of 65 years, William Ralph Freeman, Sr., began their family. She held several office positions, retiring from Asheville Radiological Associates. Thelma was an ac- tive member of Weaverville United Methodist Church, holding many positions. She cherished most her association with the members of the Grace Waugh Circle. She was the daughter of the late Harley Ed- ward and Althia (Allie) Humphries Baldwin. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five sisters, and five brothers. Surviving are her sons, Ed-
ward C. Freeman and wife Linda of Hendersonville, William Ralph Freeman, Jr., and wife Gwen of Hendersonville, and James M. Freeman and wife Linda of Salis- bury; brother, Harold Baldwin of Marietta, Ga.; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews with whom she had a close and loving relationship.
