the TailGait Market pet store located in the Leicester Landing Shopping Center in December. Demmons felt there was a need for the store in her Le- icester community. She carries a wide array of unique

dog and cat supplies as well as quality holistic and natural foods and supple- ments. “It’s all about the health of the dogs

and cats,” said Demmonds. Her love for dogs and passion for

nutrition requires her to research the products that are available in her store. Tere are no wheat, corn or soy by- products in the food sold at the store. Special orders and locally-produced items are also available. “I really believe in buying locally

and if I can’t find it here then I will look in the region and then the nation,” said Demmons. Demmons, who called herself a

“halfback” after growing up in New England and moving to Western North Carolina after a stint in Florida, enjoys the small-town atmosphere. “While visiting some friends in Marshall we fell in love with Leicester and knew this is where we wanted to move,” she said. Te Demmons are proud parents

of Olive, a 4-month-old Blue Great Dane and Tatcher, a 6-year-old Brin- dle Great Dane who weighs in at 196 pounds. Starting this week, the TailGait

Market is offering dog training classes. Demmons showed and trained dogs for 15 years and feels the mental health of a dog is as important as the physical health. Te manners classes will be of- fered twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday. Tey will be six, one-hour classes. For more information or to sign up

for classes, call or stop by the TailGait Market, 328 New Leicester Highway, Suite 142, 258-1600.
