anchester’s fi rst ‘eco-mosque’, the Woodfold Avenue Bohra community have donated £50,000 to the Levenshulme Inspire.
Centre Director Kate Chappell was thrilled by the generous donation, “It’s
wonderful to see the community pulling together to make Levenshulme a better place for us all and this level of support has by far exceeded our expectations. Levenshulme Inspire exists to celebrate the diversity of the area and bring people together, we look forward to working further with the Bohra Mosque over the coming years” The money came from the faith community’s international leader, Mohammed Burhanuddin, who granted it to Levenshulme when he visited some years ago and it had remained unused until now. The mosque had already pledged £1,000 in shares to the cause, until recently when the board of trustees approved a donation of £50,000.

T’S a long way from the peeling paint, draughty rooms and uncared-for
surroundings which characterise too many community facilities. Levenshulme’s new Inspire Centre has plush modern interiors more suited to swish loft apartments, with huge French windows and sunlight streaming in. The original features of the former United Reformed Church, including arched windows and exposed stonework, have been carefully preserved.
