Don’t Starve Yourself Fat C
ould it be that you’re overweight because your body is actually starving? Anti-diet activist and weight-loss
guru Jon Gabriel says it’s possible. Weighing in at more than 400 pounds, Gabriel de- cided to stop battling his own body and start listening to what it was trying to tell him. Why did he crave so many calories? Why was he so hungry, when his body was obvi- ously substantial?

Workshop and Laughter Classes for Expectant Moms
aughter Buddha Baby, in Cardiff, will present a workshop, Creating the Chemistry of Joy, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 27, and offer a weekly prenatal laughter class at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. The workshop and classes are designed to create happy chemistry in pregnant mothers through holistic tech- niques that release stress, fear and anxiety and focus on cultivating joy.
L Workshop and class facilitators say that by combining laughter yoga and laugh-
ter meditation, women can experience immediate benefits, including a reduction of stress hormones and an increase in serotonin and dopamine levels, as well as the endorphins that help reduce pain and depression. The practices may also help boost the immune system, increase antibody levels and oxygenate the blood; the weekly prenatal classes are intended to cultivate a deeper bond between mother and baby and give women the tools they need for an empowered, loving birth.
Cost: $195/workshop; $150 before March 20. Weekly class is $20/class or $108/6 classes. Location: Cardiff Gym Yoga Studio, 2085 San Elijo Ave., Cardiff-by-the-Sea 92007. For more information, call 760-500-9878, email
