Q&A with DIANA
MCCALLISTER BODY PAINT ARTIST EXTRAORDINAIRE
How long have you been doing body paint? I actually started messing around eight years ago in College doing a mixed media project for an art class. At that time I just used regular acrylic paint...oops. A lot of my work is during events when I have about 20 minutes per person so I look like I’m Rain Man with a paint brush and airbrush in each hand.
How did you discover your passion for it? It was something different to express my art-
work. I love the entertainment aspect of making the art come alive and the illusions you can create with it.
Where did you study? I went to college in New Jersey at Monmouth
University where I received a degree in Fine Arts and Criminal Justice. I know it’s a weird combo but I’ve always been into art, so I majored in that as well just for fun.

and you can see me body painting in San Diego, West Hollywood and Vegas. I will be doing the White Party in Palm Springs again which is always a lot of fun. I do love painting my hot go-go boys and girls. I live in San Diego, so if you see any go- go boys painted at Richs, or anywhere in Hillcrest for that matter, it’s probably my doing.
I also
draw, paint, create graphic art and web design when I’m not painting humans.
What is the craziest thing you have painted on a body? I’ve done guys and girls completely nude so it’s
no surprise. It’s funny because it’s completely non sexual when I’m working. The most important thing is making sure the model is comfortable, so a few wise cracking jokes and some enhancing of the muscles always sets them at ease. I’ve done everyone from pop stars to porn
stars...nothing fazes me anymore.
