USA can afford to be so com- petitive in a tough business is that the company owns its own factories in China. “We’re able to keep our costs very low because of that,” Ladd says. He also be- lieves his competitors would do well to help out consumers as the uncertainty continues. “Other companies need to lower their prices,” he says. “They need to have good prices, offer good qual- ity, and come up with new ideas; that is, new marketing ideas and new packaging ideas,” he states. Another reason Country Club remains bullish is because they do one thing only and do it re- ally well. “We’re concentrating and specializing in the product we know best. We only sell bed sheets,” Ladd says. “We don’t sell ladies dresses, or wind chimes, or animal blankets, only bed sheets. We are the source and the spe- cialists,” he concludes. Asked if he thought the worst was behind us, Ladd was emphatic. “The re- cession is not over, but we will continue to battle the recession,” he says. “We’re always going to have popular price bedding.”
