Happy New Year. How was it for you ? So that was 2010. Was it a good year for you? Was it a great year ? or was it one to forget ? It’s been a fantastic year for the Herald as we’ve been able to share our magazine with a wider audience, and we’ve just completed our first year with our Burnley edition. We now deliver to 45,000 homes in five separate communities, and we are looking forward to an exciting new year with some new ideas to keep you entertained, but also to provide a valuable service for our advertisers and local organisations. This edition gives us chance to look back at some of the highlights of the last year, or low lights in terms of the England football team. We reflect on the music scene, and, with Burns Night later this month, we dedicate some space to celebrate the man. We also celebrate 125 Years for Accrington Pipe Band, making it the oldest civil Pipe Band in the country. See page 15. There’s also a Scottish flavour running through the pages as we bring in the New Year, as you’ve probably noticed from the bagpipes in our heading. Some celebrities have sadly passed away during 2010 and we have pictures to help remember their work, see Page 23. Other celeb’s have made some quotations throughout the year which they probably regret, so we thought we’d bring them to your attention. We also look back at some sporting achievements, Page 25, during the last twelve months and although we went to press before we got the results for this years sports personality, we have an interesting list of all the previous winners. We also have a few quizzes and brain teasers plus all the usual jokes and silly stuff. Best Wishes for a Prosperous New Year from every- one at The Local Herald. Enjoy.
