Merry Christmas II You Mariah Carey Give it up for the little lady with the great big voice. In
what was an unexpected surprise, Carey has balanced a great package of holiday classics, a few new Christmas songs she penned herself and a touch of energetic party spirit together. From the overtly solemn tone of “Oh, Little Town of Bethlehem” to her house party groove on the hip rendition of “Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane)/Housetop Celebration,” she has blended a perfect collection of spirited and joyous holiday songs. Know- ing how popular her rendition of “All I Want
for Christmas” is this time of year, she went back into the studio and recorded a new version specifically for Merry Christmas II You. Ain’t she sweet! Available now.
Kandi Koated Kandi
Fans of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of
Atlanta are familiar with Kandi Burruss’ ability to perform musical magic. In particular, by writing and producing Kim Zolciak’s hit “Tardy for the Party,” and for penning hits for Destiny’s Child, Pink and TLC among others. However, the 34-year-old Grammy Award winner, and former member of the girl group Xscape, is stepping back behind the mic on her Kandi Koated CD. And the result is a mix of sultry R & B-infused tracks, such as “I Want You” with its slow jam storyline about longing, while making a similar plea with “I Just Know,” which examines falling in love. On the other end of that spectrum is “Leave U,” an anthem for those of us wanting to break free from a comfort zone relationship. Available December 14.
