THIS HOLIDAY SEASON YOU CAN LAUGH YOU’RE A** OFF! Get ready to Laugh You’re A** Off! (LYAO!) this holiday season at the Laughter

Yoga event. The San Diego Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will present LYAO! on Friday, December 10. It will feature a 45-minute Laughter Yoga session followed by music, socializing and refreshments by Marcella June’s Coffee House. Your hostess for the evening is the always fun and sassy Sister Shelby HellBound! The Sisters are asking for a minimum $5 donation upon entry and the session will be followed by refreshments and music. Laughter Yoga is not what you think, so plan on leaving that yoga mat and

workout clothes at home and come as you are. The Sisters explain that yoga is a general term that people, especially in the U.S., usually associate with physical or “hatha” yoga. While Laughter (Hasya) Yoga incorporates some of the physical/hatha yoga principles – especially related to yogic breathing – which increases the oxygen flow to our bodies and brains. It is not physical/hatha yoga. The current state of our economy, the impending holiday and winter months bring on seasonal blues that Laughter Yoga will help lift! All funds collected at the door will be donated to the Hillcrest Youth Center,

to ensure it can continue to provide a safe, affirming space for LGBTQ youth to be proud of who they are and the freedom to discover who they might become. Additionally, the event will also benefit Laughter Matters, a new nonprofit dedicated to bringing Laughter Yoga to as many people in San Diego as possible. Laugh Your A** Off will take place on Friday, December 10, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the San Diego LGBT Community Center, located at 3909 Centre Street in Hillcrest. SAN DIEGO REMEMBERS JOHN WEAR The San Diego Remembers Committee will gather on Monday, Decem-

ber 13 to remember the 19th anniversary of the death of John Wear, who was tragically murdered on December 13, 1991 in Hillcrest because he was perceived to be gay. The group will use this small, intimate gathering to kick-off the campaign to redesign the John Wear Hate Crimes Memorial Plaque which pays tribute to 17-year old Wear and all those the community has lost to hate. The site was chosen to serve as a reminder of the work done by The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and to ensure that the lives of John and all victims of hate are never forgotten. The entire community is asked to bring a candle and join San Diego

Remembers organizers Sister Iona Dubble-Wyde and Benny Cartwright, to stand up against all forms of hate that continue to permeate our com- munity. The event will take place on Monday, December 13, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The Hate Crimes Memorial plaque is located in the 1000 block of University Avenue, in front of Obelisk Shoppe in Hillcrest.
