Spain’s Álvaro Santamaría took the Everest Sponsered, Spanish Poker Tour main event for the tidy sum of e43,300

Carsten Joh, the well known player and winner of a coveted bracelet at the World Series of Poker, won

the inaugural Marbella Mob Open at the Casino Marbella last month. Joh beat 125 other players to take the victory and winner’s cheque for e10,000. The tournament saw some well known players at the tables, including Paul Zimbler “The Marbella Kid” as well as regular Casino Marbella players César Ordónez and Raúl González Baena as well as tournament organisers the Marbella Mob, David Dancey, Gary Collins and Donnna Fransz. Once Paul Zimbler was knocked out on

the second day, Carsten became the favourite to take the title and went onto the final table (which included Raúl González Baena and Simon Alexander) with a large chip stack. The heads up was tough and long with Carsten up against Lorena Aparicio, a previous winner of María Poker Ladies Night, who went to the final table as chip leader. Carsten’s aggressive play, however, saw him finally take the victory and end a hugely successful Marbella Mob Open. Isabel María Torralba Cardosa won the latest round of the Maria Poker Ladies Night at Casino Marbella. As well as a winner's cheque for e900, she also won a free entry into the Unibet Open, which will take place next month in London. In addition she also won a hair treatment package at Camille Albane París, worth more than e100 and a gift voucher for Manuel Spinosa Jewellers worth e50.

Once again there was a very high level of skill by the participants, who also included Lorena Aparicio, Donna Fransz of the Marbella Poker Mob, Rosa Tous Estany and Yeidy Ramierez, who are all regular players at Casino Marbella.

Pedro Javier Piazuelo Ferrero

The latest round of the Spanish Poker Championship, sponsored by Eurosuperpoker, took place at the Casino Kursaal in the beautiful city of San Sebastian in the heart of the Basque country. It was a good tournament for the locals, as the top three all came from the Euskadi Poker club. The winner was well known local player Unai Iruin. The 36-year-old beat the other 204 players and picked up a winner’s cheque for e33,393, not bad for someone who says that he got into playing poker after watching Rounders! The final round of the championship takes place in Valladolid on December 9th, with Pedro Javier Piazuelo Ferrero leading the overall league. In the Spanish Poker Tour, sponsored by Everest, a field of 198 battled it out for the e188,100 prize-pool in Seville. Spain’s Álvaro Santamaría was the last man standing cashing e43,300 for his win.

HIDE YOUR (POKER) FCE!

LadbrokesPoker.com is one of the first sites to feature ‘Anonymous Tables’. This unique offering allows players to hide their aliases and avatars from the other players on their table. This gives players the opportunity to try some outrageous moves without being recognised. ‘Anonymous Tables’, which is patent pending, runs alongside the standard cash tables and be accessible from the main lobby. Kate McLennan, Head of Poker at Ladbrokes

Poker, said, “We are really excited about this launch. Never before have poker players been able to play without other players knowing who they are. This brings an added element to the game for people whose playing style may be recognisable. For those new to the game, it is an opportunity to try some different moves without getting a reputation because players will simply never know who they are playing against.”
