Indeed, a long history of neglecting agricultural investments has made it difficult for many developing countries and their donors to quickly scale up agricultural investments in the wake of the crisis. Despite these obstacles, sustained and smart investments in developing-country agriculture will be essential if the world food system is to finally deliver what it ought to: greater food security and real income gains for the world’s poorest people.
