Colette Perkins Joins OLP as New Director of Education


Colette Perkins, President and Founder of Emerging Technologies, has joined OLP


as the new Director of Education. Perkins, a seasoned litigation support practice director with experience in major law firms, will be responsible for implementing and designing online, interactive courses together with Center for Advanced Legal Studies. Perkins is a proven strategic leader and expert in the litigation technology field. In the


past several years, she has worked as an independent litigation readiness and technology consultant and trainer, creating and conducting numerous successful customized courses, seminars, CLEs, and training agendas. She has educated and counseled corporations and law firms on proactive document


retention polices, litigation holds, preservation requirements; working and developing cross-functional teams to outline their current enterprise systems and recommend sys- tematic solutions to prepare for electronic data collection; provided well-documented language for attorneys meet and confer requirements, defensible forensic methods, data extraction and processing in a cost effective manner. She has partnered with industry software leaders to provide clients with tools for early case assessment, document preser- vation and collection, and hosting review solutions. She has worked with EDD vendors and their clients to provide education regarding litigation technology from case-receipt to post-trial archival and supported their litigation processing software applications. Colette is a Certified Litigation Technology Manager and successfully devel-


oped and defined requirements for multiple firms’ litigation technology depart- ments. She trained numerous legal and IT professionals on major litigation sup- port applications such as Concordance (Certified Concordance Administrator), Summation, Sanction, IPRO, and LAW. She lead, mentored and trained junior staff members and led and trained large teams of attorneys and paralegals on substan- tial document database reviews and produced several coding and training manuals. Her years of experience in litigation technology have provided her with an in-depth understanding of the emerging legal standards regarding paper and electronic discov- ery, including the proper preservation of data, spoliation avoidance, eliminating potential sanctions, and proper document and hosting management for review. While a litigation technology manager, she spearheaded the development of an in-house litigation tech- nology department, which entailed creating and defining the role of a litigation support department, job descriptions, protocols, procedures, software, hardware, personnel, and marketing of it to the Board of Directors for approval. She also configured and presented successful courtroom technology. Perkins holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from


the University of Akron and numerous certifications and professional training in litigation support applications. She resides in Quinton, Virginia with her hus- band and their daughter. Colette can be reached at: colette.perkins@theolp.org.
