School Organisation Staffing
The school is led and managed on a day-to-day basis by the Headteacher, deputy and assistant headteacher and senior leadership team. The governing body carries out strategic decision-making.
In addition most teachers hold a teaching and learning responsibility and lead in a particular aspect of curriculum, organisation or in pupil welfare. A team of highly qualified support staff is deployed throughout the school to support staff by managing and leading on administration, premises and facilities and communications.
Teaching assistants support teaching, learning, pupil welfare and administration throughout the school. Learning
mentors support well- being and attendance. We have specialist teachers for Music, PE and Art and staff who “cover” classes to allow class teachers time for planning, preparation and assessment.
Children
There are 60 places available in each year group at Argyle. Children are taught in two parallel mixed ability and gender classes not exceeding 30 pupils.
Nationally the primary school years are organised into 3 stages: The Early Years Foundation Stage (nursery and reception), Key Stage 1 (year 1& 2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3 - 6)
As there are important issues of transition between one type of learning to another across key stages and in child development, in our school we have divided the school into phases 1-3 as explained on the next page.
