The Argyle School uniform is a navy blue “logoed” Jumper, a navy or pale blue “logoed” shirt and dark grey / black trousers or skirts.

All children are expected to wear uniform, including nursery children. Nursery children may wear black pull on trousers. All other trousers should be of a school trouser style. (see details in back of prospectus)

Uniform is available from the school shop on Tuesday afternoons from 3.15 to 4 pm or it can be ordered from the office. Children who wish to cover their heads may buy navy or black hijabs from local stores. Shoes should be plain black or plain black trainers. We ask that girls wear shoes with low heels and that sandals should have a strap around the ankles.

Watches and if necessary, small ear studs are the only types of jewellery acceptable at school.

PE T-shirts and shorts are also available from the shop. Children will need to bring in trainers for PE.

All jewellery should be removed for PE and swimming.

It is the responsibility of families to clearly name all uniform items and school coats and bags.

Mobile phones should only be brought to school in an emergency, with a parental note, and the phone left in the office during the day Children are expected to keep a water bottle in school.

Special Educational Needs

Children may have learning, emotional, behavioural or social needs or barriers to learning which require special support over the long or short term. All children’s needs are assessed according to the national code of practice for Special Educational Needs. Additional help is provided through school resources and sometimes by external professionals. The school has a separate information booklet for parents translated into Somali and Bengali and if you require one, please ask at the school office.

We have made, and continue to make, our school accessible to children and adults with physical needs. The head is happy to discuss any such requirements with families.

Lunches

We are very proud of the quality of our school meals. There is a very high take up of cooked lunches at Argyle. Menus are discussed with

children each term and are freshly made on the premises each day . Much food is locally sourced and some vegetables are organic. Herbs from our gardens are used in the lunches. Menus are displayed by the dining room and include a choice of Halal and vegetarian meals.

Special dietary requirements are catered for. Children may bring packed lunches if preferred which should contain healthy foods such as a sandwich or rice, fruit and yoghurt. Parents are asked to read and sign our healthy eating policy if children opt for packed lunches e.g you are asked to not include sweets, chocolate or fizzy drinks in packed lunches.

Drinking water is available at lunchtime and throughout the day.
