Admissions TO ARGYLE
A
rgyle is a popular school and there are waiting lists in many year groups. London Borough of Camden manage admissions to nursery, reception and from September 2010, all “in –year” admissions. Applications for nursery are made directly to the school. To decide who can be admitted to the school we follow Camden admissions policy for community schools, listed below. For fuller details and information please refer to their booklet “Starting School” available from the school office or by telephoning Camden Admissions on 0207 974 1525.
Admissions Policy For Reception
Admission to nursery does not automatically entitle children to a place in reception. Families have to apply again to Camden Local Authority for reception places. Children enter the reception class in the year in which they are 5 years old in either September or January.
Up to September 2011 children will be admitted to reception in September or January depending on their birthdate. From September 2011 all children will begin reception in September. Please contact the school for more details.
Camden Local Authority admissions criteria:
1. Children who have a Statement of Special Needs which names Argyle School with the agreement of Camden Local Authority or children who are in public care. 2. Brothers and sisters of children already at the school (including nursery).
3. Children who have medical or social problems which are supported by professional reports to the school.
4. Other children, with priority given to those living closest to the school. The distance is measured “as the crow flies”.
Admissions Policy For Nursery
Nursery education is non-statutory and as such we cannot guarantee a reception place to all our nursery children. Nursery education is currently full time at Argyle.
Up to September 2011, children start nursery in either the autumn or spring terms; the term after their third birthday. From September 2011 this will continue however we are consulting on opening more places for nursery age children at this time.
Parents apply directly to the school for nursery places. When you decide to put your child’s name down for a place at Argyle we would like you to make a visit and meet us. The school office team will be pleased to arrange this with you.
When you accept a place at our nursery, staff will organise a home visit to begin our partnership working with you and your child.
