Illnesses and Accidents

We have a high number of qualified first-aiders at Argyle who will administer first aid for minor accidents and illnesses occurring in school. You will be notified by phone or in writing if your child has had a minor accident during the school day and will be called in immediately if anything more serious happens.

Medicines in schools Drugs and medicines must not be brought to school. We are not authorised to administer any medication.

Children who need to use asthma inhalers must keep one in the medical room and will be supervised whilst they use them. Parents are responsible for keeping this medication up to date. This is the same with any child needing an Epi- pen. Additional information on our medical needs policy can be gained from the school office.

Child safety

All children below 10 years old (or year 6) must be brought and collected for school by a responsible person to ensure their health and safety. (A responsible person being at least 16 years of age) Children will not be released into the care of friends and family that are not known to the teacher unless the school has been notified.

Child protection and Safeguarding

We believe we all have a duty to keep children safe from neglect, emotional, physical or other more serious harm. The school has a child protection (CP) policy and all staff have regular training in order to be aware of issues which could signal a child is at risk. The deputy head is the named teacher responsible for all CP matters in the school. If the school has any concerns it is our duty to contact Camden Safeguarding and Social Care team to ask for and follow their advice.

Home-School Agreement

Every school is required by law to have a home-school agreement. This is to ensure that families and schools are working together to support children’s learning and development in the best possible way. You will be asked to read and sign the agreement when your child starts at Argyle.

Complaints

If parents are dissatisfied in any way with the curriculum or school organisation we encourage them to take their concern to the class teacher then to the Deputy or Headteacher. If they are still not satisfied they can write to the Chair of Governors at the school address. Details of this policy and procedure are available in the school office.
