Summer 2010 has been one of high heat and humidity that has taken its toll on many older horses. The prolonged weather has been stressful to both humans and horses alike. Burn- ing Sensation+, a 24-year old National Show Horse/Half-Ara- bian homebred gelding of Kin- tyre Arabians felt the effects this
summer. Going off feed, losing weight and a couple of vet calls caused Vivianne Macdonald to make the hard decision to put Burni down on July 22, 2010. Burning Sensation+ is the remaining member of a 3-gener- ation family that the Macdon- ald’s once competed with. A superb Pleasure Driving horse
and a Working Hunter, he saw many different show rings over his long competition career. In 1996, 5 months after surviving a terrible stall accident that almost took his life at a boarding stable, he was named AHA National Half-Arabian Top Ten Working Hunter Open in Louisville KY. Burni’s pasture mate for the past 21 years was 28-year old homebred Arabian stallion, Kintyre El Mateus. Mat excelled
has been a lesson and pleasure mount for granddaughter Sonya. At age 26, the 14.1hh Mat quali- fied for the Royal Winter Fair in the SportPony StarSearch’s Stallion Halter and Dressage Suitability classes though he wasn’t sound enough to attend. ly would be heartbroken with the loss of the “boys” it was felt that 21-year old Shades of Spring+ was coming close on her last days too and rather than endure more sorrow in a couple of weeks or months, Spring would join the boys over the rainbow bridge. Shades of Spring+, a National Show Horse/Half-Arabian mare was name AHA National Champion Half-Arabian Jumper in 1996 proving that little folks can attain big dreams. As a yearling, Spring was given to the Mac-
spring including 4 daughters all approved First Premium or above by the North American Sport Pony Registry.
