During the two-year height of the recession (2007-2009), non- profit employment grew 2.5% per year on average in 21 states, while for-profit employment fell 3.3%.

Nonprofits in our area make a direct impact on the economy


through job creation and job growth, but they also make an indirect impact. Nonprofit organizations, like for-profits, contract for goods and services—including legal, accounting, printing, catering, facilities rental, car repair, and web design—contributing to payroll and the bottom line of for-profit businesses of all sizes across our community.
