The Charlottesville Waldorf Foundation is building the “greenest campus in America” for the Charlottesville Waldorf School (CWS) – the fi rst 100% Low Impact Development site in Virginia, and the fi rst school in the U.S. to use the Passive House design (nearly net- zero energy use). For over 25 years, CWS has taught global environmental responsibility as integral to its curriculum. With this green campus - and demonstrating its fi scal wisdom and pragmatism - we pave the way for a sustainability movement among other schools, corporations and individuals.

Established in 1973, the Emergency Food Bank is an all-volunteer organization that provides a 3-day food supply to individuals and families in need. It serves residents of Charlottesville and Albemarle exclusively. The Emergency Food Bank works because it is simple in design: food that is donated or purchased with contributions is given directly to those in need on the same day they request it.
How the community can help: fi nancially (direct donation, Combined Virginia Campaign, or through the Leave a Legacy Thomas Jefferson Area Program); coordinating food drives; donating food; volunteering.
