A BEVERAGE OF EPIC PROPORTION What do you get when Beer Ad-
vocate Magazine’s “Top Brewery on Planet Earth” teams up with two–time title holder for California State’s Golden Bear Winery of the Year? A beverage of “epic” proportion. South Coast Winery is pleased to
announce to both wine and beer lovers alike the news: The
release of the
10.10.10 Stone Vertical Epic Ale. While South Coast Winery is one of the fast- est growing small wineries in the United States, its little wonder why the 10.10.10 Vertical Epic Ale’s release is made today by Southern California’s Stone Brew- ing Company, one of the fastest grow- ing craft breweries in the United States since its founding in 1996. Months ago, Stone’s President and
Brew Master Steve Wagner, Stone’s Brewhouse Supervisor Jeremy Moynier, and Head Brew Master (and wine lover) Mitch Steele met up with South Coast Winery’s Winemakers (and beer lovers), Jon McPherson and Javier Flores,
to sample select white wine varietals. As with any good epic, the Stone Team selected three fruits from South Coast Winery’s Vineyards – Muscat, Gewurz-
traminer and Sauvignon Blanc – to blend with its newest, larger–than–life Belgian Pale Ale.
Adding a special “twist” to its year’s
plot is the news that Stone’s 10.10.10 Ver- tical Epic Ale is brewed with chamomile and a special wheat and rye hybrid called Triticale to enhance the special blend of South Coast Winery’s juice. The result- ing beer is dry, complex, full–bodied and brimming with floral, fruity aromas. A closer look at the parallel and its
plain to see the plot to this twisted Epic thickening: As with South Coast Winery’s wine production and its unique vintages; for the past nine year’s Stone Brewery has been creating its specialty ales to be unique to its year of release. Just like most South Coast Winery
wines, these specialty Stone ales are de- signed to be aged until sometime after De- cember 12, 2012, if one has the discipline to wait that long. Stone’s first brew was released on February 2nd, 2002; their next release March 3rd, 2003; the next April 4th, 2004, and so on, so that each release is one year, one month and one day from the previous year’s edition. When asked about the “twist” in this Epic, Master Winemak-
er Jon McPherson states, “South Coast Winery is delighted to have been a part of this special 10.10.10 Stone release,” and
looks forward to Stone’s vertical release in its entirety to be com- plete on December 12, 2012.
