offering quality programs for children. In fact, the church takes the safety of children so seriously that they invest thousands of dollars per year in training and fingerprinting their staff and volunteers for ministries such as Vacation Bible School, Music Drama Day Camp, and Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS). Now, the church is celebrating the Grand Opening of Canyon Lake Community

Church Preschool, their newest ministry to children, on October 31, 2010, from 5-8 p.m. The new school, serving children ages two through six, has helped to meet the increasing demand for quality, early childhood education and childcare in Riverside County by providing both half and full-day year-round preschool options. The program offers kindergarten preparedness activities, utilizing an individualized

approach to learning. “All children learn differently,” says, Early Childhood Education Director, Cindy Begando. “Our talented staff of professional educators works hard to plan activities that engage a variety of leaning styles through hands-on activities. We have high academic standards and are already on-target to meet our educational goals. This is largely due to maintaining excellent teacher-to-child ratios, which provides ample opportunities for one-on-one interaction.” Each week, the curriculum includes developmentally appropriate lessons in Bi-

ble, phonics, literature, math, science, cooking, physical education, foreign language, health, safety, music, and art. Optional enrichment activities are also available, in- cluding gymnastics and ballet classes. Each student’s progress is measured, utilizing a comprehensive assessment tool, to ensure success in the program. The school still has limited space available, and will be conducting tours for the

next few weeks. For more information about the church or the new preschool program, call (951) 244-1877.

Classes for Young Girls A Better Me Series

A group of young ladies from S.A.F.E.’s Police Activities League, P.A.L., have a

better sense of which fork to use, how much make-up is too much and you can create your own unique sense of style. The girls, ages 12-16 recently finished “A Better Me” series of classes offered by S.A.F.E. with volunteer experts in the fields of etiquette, beauty and wardrobe. Angela Sturdivant of Everyday Etiquette directed the girls in proper dining, electronic etiquette and everyday good manners. The generous staff at Murrieta Day Spa taught the girls appropriate make-up application, treated them to par- affin wax treatments and each girl had their hair done with curls and sparkle. The final class in the series was hosted by Marya Maxfield who is a wardrobe coach with Great Sense of Style. She spoke to the girls about accessorizing and creating their own style. The class ended with a “clothes swap” where the girls all went home with something new to add to their wardrobe.
