Weaver relatives share stories and pictures of their family at the Tribe of Jacob gathering. Two family reunions Saturday


(Aug. 14) in Weaverville brought together descendants of the one of the area’s most inf luential fami-


lies. The 151st Jacob Weaver reunion


was held at the family’s “Ramble- hurst” home on New Stock Road. It is the oldest family reunion in Western North Carolina, accord- ing to Albert Weaver. It has been held continuously


every year except for a brief hiatus during the late 1800s. The reunion reunites the fam-


ily of Jacob Weaver, the oldest son of John and Elizabeth Biff le Weaver. Relatives from Georgia, Florida, Kentucky and California visited.

Tom and Jan Lawrence hosted the reunion of Michael Montraville Weaver at their home. Thirty- four family members attended, including the descendants of Capt. Wm. Elbert Weaver, Dr. Henry Bascomb Weaver, Marga- ret Matilda Weaver Parker and Eliza Jane Weaver Myers Reagan, children of Montraville and Jane Eliza Baird Weaver.

ley from Key West, Fla., were at the reunions. His grandmother Mary Lee Weaver, born 1888 in Weaverville, married his grandfa- ther Harold C. Thompson in Key West. Perpall is trying to find the parents of his grandmother. Any- one with information, call Law- rence at 658-3934.
