The Secret to Attracting W

hat’s the most im- portant thing in life? What’s essential for a

good life? I recently heard that

question posed, with a va- riety of answers includ- ing: health and healthy nutrition, water, safety (physical, emotional, spiritual, psychologi- cal), money, wisdom, imagination… I tend to agree

with Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks of The Hen- dricks Institute who

say, “the most important thing in life is feeling the flow of love inside you and around you.” We’re not talking about an ab- stract concept of love; this

is the vitalizing energy of love that flows freely (or not) within and between us and beyond. Although certain ap-

parel and electronics are now associated with “life is good”, in order to have

a truly good life it’s impor- tant to enhance the flow of harmony and genuine love

Loving Relationships

in our life through conscious loving re- lationships. All too often, however, our relationships are anything but conscious, and not always loving. It has been shown that lack of love

in infants can cause death. We can ar- gue that love –acceptance, desiring one’s highest good, and treating with empathic esteem –vitalizes us. Or as Sarah Ban Breathnach puts it, “We are created by love, for love, to love.” Teachers such as Wayne Dyer, Gregg

Braden, Mary Hall, Deepak Chopra, and Marianne Williamson equate loving en- ergy with vital Life Energy. In such a para- digm each living being is a unique por- tion of the life energy, connected with the source of all energy and with each other. The metaphor of the worldwide web

graphically illustrates that we are all in- terconnected via the flow of energy. Put another way, the energy of life is the “ocean” in which we each are a drop of water, and the composition of that “ocean” is love and light. With all this loving energy abound-

ing, and given the importance of loving relationships to vitality, how do we par- ticipate in the experience of free-flowing genuine love? The secret key to having loving relationships with others lies in having a conscious, loving relationship with ourselves. It’s extremely difficult for most of us

to have such a relationship, primarily be- cause the flow of loving energy is often blocked within us. We’ve forgotten our innate connection with the energy of life itself and need to reacquaint ourselves with the essence of love that we are. In the words of the metaphors above:

we’re connected to the internet, but we’re working in another program; or, we’re in a patch where dispersed oil interrupts the flow of water and life within the ocean. For us to have what is important for life, we have to wake up to a relationship with our essential self. One of the most effective tools I’ve

found for “waking up” is Mary A Hall’s Daily Heart Meditation, used in conjunc- tion with her Heart Thoughts. With this tool we can remember our union with all of life and draw on the energy source for love, peace, joy, health, abundance,
