The Rage Monthly: How did you discover a career in bartending? Chris Franklin: A few years ago I quit my job as a financial advisor. I was com-
pletely burnt out and needed a vacation. I knew I never wanted to go back to a job where I sit behind a desk attached to a computer and a phone ever again. So, while contemplating my next move in life at my local watering hole; it hit me. These bartenders are partying, having the time of their lives every night and getting paid for it. Where can I sign up? I prepared myself, studied my drinks and applied to every bar accepting applications and got lucky to find this gem of a bar called the Tin Lizzie.
Rage: Are you an Orange County native? CF: Born and raised. I grew up in the city of Placentia; a very diverse city that will always have a place in my heart. As a kid growing up, there was no place I’d rather be.
Rage: What is one of the things that most appeals to you about your job as a bartender at the Tin Lizzie? CF: The Tin Lizzie has a community like no other bar I have ever seen. A “Cheers”-
like atmosphere in a tiny little saloon with tons of charm. We have a great crowd that never ceases to entertain me every single night.
Rage: What days of the week can we find you serving up cocktails at The Tin? CF: I work Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights but I continually pick up shifts every week so you can probably find me working on any given night.
Rage: What are some of the things you enjoy doing when you’re not working? CF: I continually stay active (it keeps me out of trouble). I enjoy working out at the gym, running local trails around my house and hiking the beautiful mountains surrounding Southern California. If all of that doesn’t keep me busy enough I also have a great career in the entertainment industry as an actor and a model.

Rage: Do you have any “specialty cocktails” that you’d like to mention? CF: Ha-ha I do have some specialty cocktails but you’re going to have to come in to the Lizzie to find out what they are.
Rage: If you were a cocktail, what would you be and why? CF: I would probably be any cocktail made with Tequila. I’m a bit unpredictable and always trying to get people in trouble.
Rage: What words would your friends use to describe you? CF: My friends would describe me as honest, fun and caring, “a true friend.” All
my close friends know I will be there any time they need me. I have a close bond with my friends that nothing can destroy and I cherish the fact that I have such amazing people in my life.
Rage: For those who haven’t been to the Tin Lizzie, what would you say they have been missing? CF:
If you haven’t been to the Tin Lizzie you are missing out on an amazing
time. The Tin is a unique place unlike any other around. It’s not an over-the-top nightclub with huge dance floors and pyrotechnics. We don’t need all the frills; it’s much more simple than that. The Tin is a cozy bar with an amazing clientele; all of our bartenders are courteous and pour a mean drink—and even the doorman will greet you with a huge smile and a hearty handshake. The combination of these factors can give you the time of your life on any given night. Great friends and great drinks in a great atmosphere.
