The Rage Monthly: So there are some exciting changes going on at Babycakes? Christopher Stavros: Ohhh yeah! After two years of offering coffee & desserts,
we now have a FULL LIQUOR Bar! The cupcakes are bakin’, the coffee is steamin’, and the cocktails are flowin’… Rage: What can you tell us about the brand new Babys Bar at Babycakes? CS: We have created an energetic surrounding where everyone can come
and enjoy many guilty pleasures. Babycakes is doing something you cannot find really anywhere else - Cupcakes & Cocktails!!! Many people are referencing Babycakes as the Abbey (West Hollywood) of San Diego but with a laid-back vibe - the desserts, cocktails, setting, etc. Rage: Is there a Happy Hour or nightly drink specials at Babys Bar? CS: There will always be a drink special happening at Babys! Ask for our Liquid
Sweets menu and your will find some insane dessert cocktails that “taste like candy”- Lucille Ball. Tell the bartender it is your first time at Babys and let’s just see how happy you get. A happy hour will turn into a happy evening! While we are still happy, don’t forget to try the “Happy Ending Shot”…but you can’t use your hands to drink. Rage: What days/nights of the week can we find you “serving it up” at Babys Bar? CS: We will be open seven nights a week starting at 6:00 p.m. I am behind the
bar Wednesday through Saturday nights. Mr. Eye Candy Mark is there on my alternate nights. Rage: What do you like most about bartending? CS: Making memories and having good times with our guests! I have devel-
oped many great friendships over the years of bartending…you can’t put a price on that! I believe everyone has a gift/talent/calling, and I believe my gift is to host/entertain people and show them a really good time! At thirty something, owning a Bar & Restaurant has been a dream and now I am able to create rela- tionships and create experiences within a dream! Rage: What kind of atmosphere can one expect to find at Babycakes’ new Babys Bar? CS: FUN, FUN, FUN! Many people come here to celebrate birthdays, holidays,
promotions, etc.- Cake & Cocktails, it is a match made in heaven. Inside a dramatic grand reception and a sexy bar & lounge, outside 1,500 square feet of see and be seen patio space. We have an amazing Garden Patio for private events in the rear holding up to 40 people. I have heard it called many times… “OMG, it’s such a Sex in the City Bar”! The gays, the straights, the bi-sexies, and the undecided all gather with one mission- to have a great time! Rage: Does Babycakes have any special events planned in August? CS: Our party of the year is Sunday the 8th from 12:00-8:00 p.m. 150,000 of our
closest friends pack our front patio and parking lot for CITYFEST! This year will be over the top; it will be our first year with a FULL LIQUOR Bar. Our babycakers will be tray passing sticky & sweet frosting shots and shots from the bar. We are excited to bring back our DJ Victor Rodriquez (LA) to spin sunny afternoon hap- piness. Really…it is the party of the year! Rage: When your not working, what are some of the things you enjoy doing in your free time? CS: Chasin’ the ball with my dog “Pancho”, catching up with good friends, and
anything music related- I have a big ear for music. Rage: What do you like most about living in San Diego? CS: The total package- the diversity of people from all over, the beach, the
mountains, proximity to Mexico and the laid back lifestyle of So Cal! Rage: Tell us something people may be surprised to find out about you. CS: I had long hair down to the middle of my back in high school and college-
used a lot of aqua-net. I was the lead singer for a heavy metal/rock band and literally lived in the closet. As a kid, we had a three-bedroom house and having two brothers I did not want to share a bedroom so I moved all my belongings and single bed into our big closet and that became my space. Who knew?
