alike. The next evening Jessica D’Nalgas, Alexa Xochitl Pussycat and I headed down- town to celebrate our friend Charis’ birthday. Before we left the gayborhood though, we stopped at the Brass Rail’s Stripper Thursday (every 3rd Thursday of the month) to get her in the partying mood. After spending enough money to put her favorite strip- per through college, we headed downtown to attend ManCave’s Spectrum Party. I love walking in the Gaslamp Quarter with all the straight boys howling and trying to pick up on us. It’s always a confidence booster. Hosts Diego and Luis are always so welcoming and attentive and I was delighted to
see some of the local celebutaunts such as Miss Justice, Disco Dolly, Glitz Glam, were there and enjoying themselves. The party went past my preferred time and we ended up back in Hillcrest at Hong Kong for some late night Chinese food. The Walnut Shrimp was wonderful but stopping for food just cut into my sleeping time. The lack of sleep really hit me the next day as I had to work a full day at the office on

Friday. Immediately after work I had to head home to get pretty for the Rob Benzon Foundation’s Pride kick-off Party. We arrived at the La Mesa event in a limo ride courtesy of Bruce, thank you honey, who had a fantastic time sampling dishes from some of San Diego’s top restaurants and catering companies. My evening didn’t end there though, and the next stop was at the home of my friends
Ed and Michael for their annual Pride party in Mission Hills. In addition to being the sweetest guys in the world, these two throw one of the best Pride parties every year. Hot models, bartenders, and go-go dancers mingled among the equally good-looking crowd. It was a fabulous party and I hated to leave, but like Cinderella with a slow watch, I had to be home by 2:00 a.m. in order to at least catch few hours of sleep. Saturday morning I had to wake up early and get ready to host the entertainment at
the Pride Festival’s Latin Stage. I was on stage all day introducing the acts and perform- ing with my sister Jessica at my side. I want to give special thanks to Gloria, Ivon, DJ Pequeno Oso, and the rest of the crew for a great event. I even got to hear Eve perform as I was being shuttled to my car on what I can only describe as Mr Toad’s wild ride. On Sunday, with my work behind me, I was actually able to enjoy all that the festival
had to offer. I ate the food, danced to the music, and drank the drinks, and even got whipped at the leather tent. Of course, the highlight of the evening was the headlining performer on the main stage, Devo. They rocked the house and performed to a stand- ing room only crowd as they brought the festival to a close. My Pride weekend ended at the Bill Hardt Presents Annual Zoo Party where I got to
dance and party among the animals with some hot guys. If a group of lions is a Pride, then what are we supposed to call a group of hot gay men on the dance floor? By the end of the weekend I was exhausted and spent the next several days soaking
my feet and reliving the memories. As I did so, I put together my agenda for August so I could share it with my readers and here are some of the must see events of the month. The fabulous Miss Cyndi Lauper will be in town on August 22 at the House of Blues to
promote her amazing new Blues CD. She will be giving an all Blues show in this depar- ture from the Pop genre she has already conquered. For the theater lovers, I recommend the classic Hello Dolly because who doesn’t like a

July has come and gone, and with it one of the best Pride’s in many years. There were enough Pride events in July to fill my own reality show on Logo. For me, Pride week really kicked off on Wednesday with a fantastic show at Bacchus
House’s Musica Y Pasion Latina. Jenny and Claudia Cristina performed some amazing musical numbers and that evening’s special guest Sparkle Stone from Long Beach had the crowd rolling with laughter. We also had local singer Jonas Adrian performing live and singing songs that will surely be on his soon-to-be-released album. All in all it was a great show and a great way to kick off the weekend for my Latino and Gringo friends
story about matchmakers and millionaires? Hello Dolly will be on stage at the Starlight Theater in Balboa Park August 19 through September 15. Meanwhile, a little closer to home, Cityfest will take over the streets of Hillcrest Sunday, August 8, so for those people suffering Pride withdrawals, this is Hillcrest’s last big event for awhile, so check it out. My last recommendation, the 35th Annual Nicky Awards, will roll out the red carpet
at the LGBT Center to celebrate the best in our community on August 29. I love see- ing everyone all dressed up at our local gay version of the Academy Awards. For more details on the Nicky’s check out our calendar of events on page 66. Well my fellow socialites, that’s it for this month. I’m off to get a massage and a facial.
I need some pampering. See you around town.
