SOUTH BAY PRIDE AND MUSIC FESTIVAL It seems only yesterday that Family Matters’ own “Gay Day in South Bay” was
being held in a residential park with only about 100 attendees. In actuality, nine years have passed and Chula Vista’s proudest little festival has become the much anticipated South Bay Pride. On Saturday, August 21 from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m., a flourish of
raffle prizes, delectable treats, and incomparable entertainment await as your youngens enjoy the Children’s Garden and you peruse the Beer Garden.
ENTERTAINMENT The event will commence by celebrating the rich history of the South Bay
with the energetic Danzantes Aztecas Groupa Atlachinolli. Dreamy, talented and openly gay, Billy Dortch—featured in the March 2010
edition of The Rage Monthly, sings his heartfelt numbers for us as we try hard to “Breathe.” Also performing are Roxy Blue and the Handful, The Tighten Ups, Tori Roze
and the Hot Mess, Rhythm and the Method and Sammy Allen! Emceed by the colorfully coiffed Laura Jane, presentations feature an inter- mission performance by the lovely and limber Miss La Fierce. Also, do not miss wonderful performances by Empress Norma and JB’s Drag Band! Admission is, of course, free. All LGBT people and their proud supporters are
welcome.
DIRECTIONS Memorial Park is located at 373 Park Way, Chula Vista, between 4th Avenue
and 3rd Avenue just north of “H” Street. Look for the colorful Third Avenue sign. Chula Vista is only 10 miles south of downtown San Diego and the Hillcrest area. South Bay Alliance Association, Inc. is a nonprofit organization building
a coalition of the LGBT community and our allies for social networking, business promotion and political awareness in South San Diego County. Visit
