Lady Gaga The Remix “ Just can’t get enough of my Sugar Crisps.” Oh…I mean, Lady Gaga, that is. On August 3, Gaga will
be calling out to all her “little monsters” to “come and get it!” as she releases (insert trumpets blaring here) The Remix. Already a worldwide sensation that hit the top of the charts in the UK, Japan and Canada, it’s time to take over the United States. The Remix features ten of her greatest hits so far… and she picked the best of the crop in DJs and artists to invigorate each song in a new styling. If she is as innovative with her DJ choices on this as she is with her fashion sense…you can expect results. Artists such as Richard Vission, Chew Fu, Stuart Price and The Pet Shop Boys are stirring it up along with several more on The Remix. Now if someone could just get Lady Gaga to dress a wee bit more when she hits the ballpark to watch a game. I know fashion is fashion. However, the batters need to keep their eye on the ball and not be going “gaga” if you know what I mean.
Country Angel
Emily West and Emily West If you think the song “Blue Sky” has a positive spin, think again. This beautiful song of lost love and the lament that goes with it is
Emily West’s current single and her self-titled new CD debuts on August 3. She has a stunning and rich quality of voice and is sure to have the cowpokes crying in their beer because of the beautiful and thoughtful lyrics on “Blue Sky.” It’s wonderful to discover the simple qualities of country music, which has morphed from the twang of the past to the heartfelt emotions of living, loving and loss. Some might remember Emily from “Celebrity Apprentice” when she won for Cyndi Lauper, the “music-makeover” challenge. Being the angel who she is, Emily donated 100 percent of the first month’s iTunes sales of “Blue Sky” to Lauper’s charity The Stonewall Community Foundation.
What the F#@k!
Killola and Let’s Get Associated “I hate when people say, ‘How have you been?’” That’s the first lyric off the newest single from Killola and lead singer, Lisa Rieffel. The
song is called “Cracks in the Armor” and the video is off the hook…an underwater adventure of hilarious proportions shall we say. Check it out on YouTube! This chick is tantalizingly rocking and innovative. Lady Gaga who? The new record Let’s Get Associated hits on August 3. The band has been creating innovative punk, pop and garage rock since 2003. It’s been two years since their last release called I Am a Messer and fans of the band are definitely in for a treat from these L.A. rockers. Just caught their live show at Pink Bar last month and some bands are truly as good live as they are on CD.
Summer’s Sensation
Katy Perry and her Teenage Dream As she travels through the Candy Land of having what quite possibly is the scorcher hit of the summer of 2010 with “California
Gurls,” Katy Perry will feed the fire with a sophomore release on August 24 and her latest called Teenage Dream. Advance buzz is predicting continued success for the upcoming release with hit maker Dr. Luke at the helm of making the album. Perry has had somewhat of a meteoric rise in the music biz and is quite the “it” girl right now. In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Perry elaborates on her new release, “The second record is really important to me because I think it shows whether I’m meant to do this, or I got lucky. Basically what I want to do is not alienate the audience that I have at all. I think some people feel like they have had success with one thing and one idea and one record and they want to pull a 180 and try a totally different thing, I definitely feel like that’s the wrong move. I feel like you just have to grow from it, you can branch off of it but keep the tree the same in some ways.” How does your garden grow, Katy? Find out this month.
