Riders from across the area came out Thursday (June 3) to Rodney’s Auto Service in Weaverville for Bike Night and to support a mission trip to China. Live music and food were a part of the festivities. Bike Night is held at Rodney’s the first and third Thursday of every month through the early fall.

Retirement Goals

by Michael Creasman, CFP

According to a

recent survey of an affluent group of investors with at least $250,000 to invest, the

Great Recession has left some lasting impressions. More than half of those surveyed say they wished they had focused more on “life goals” than “the numbers.” Specifically, 38 percent wished they had given more thought to how they wanted to live in retirement, and 23 percent said that they wished they had worked with a financial adviser earlier. Eighteen percent were troubled that they hadn’t let go of more luxuries in order to reach their retirement goals. Te best advice they could give those who were 10-15 years from retire- ment was to “build a plan around what is most important to you.”

HINT: Te second most popular

bit of advice that those participating in the above-mentioned survey had for near-retirees was to pay down debt ahead of time.

Money is vital to a pleasant retire-

ment. Te recession of 2007-2009 made many people appreciate the benefits of receiving professional fi- nancial guidance.
