student at North Buncombe Mid- dle School, along with members of Boy Scout Troop 15 implemented the design of the “Peaceful Para- dise” garden Saturday (June 5) at the school. Teachera Shelby Spivey and An-
tares Lance designed the garden for Green Night on Earth Day, a 40th anniversary celebration of Earth Day in which students viewed Earth Day related PowerPoints,
projects, posters and presentations, many interactive in nature. During the design process,
Magley approached his math/sci- ence teacher Joanne Robert about the possibility of doing the con- struction for the garden as part of his Eagle Scout Project. Buncombe County Schools and the Boy Scouts gave their approval. As part of his project, he has been
responsible for the fundraising and donations. Contributors include:
Norseman Environmental, Lowe’s in Weaverville, Asheville Mulch Yard, Bill Boughton with Edward Jones Investment and MKC Enter- prises. “Peaceful Paradise” will feature
a variety of herbs and perennials. It will be a long-term project to be visited each year in the study of mathematics, science and global connections.
